THE IMPACT OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES ON CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH AND DISEASE

How do they modify outcomes and influence patient care?

  • Illustration showing a process using ultrasound to dissolve blood clots. Left side depicts a sequence where ultrasound waves target a clot surrounded by bubbles, ultimately showing clear blood vessels. Right side features an ultrasound probe on a chest, with blood vessel illustration showing nanoparticles interacting with red blood cells and a molecular close-up.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Uses of Microbubble Cavitation

We investigate the role of ultrasound contrast agents for cardiovascular diagnostic imaging, and how these contrast agents can be used to treat problems like catheter-related thrombosis or vasospasm.

  • Illustration showing a heart with different sections labeled as RAGS, LAGS, RVFWS, and LVGLS Reference, alongside charts and statistical data, highlighting comparisons and hazard ratios.

    Clinical Outcomes in Cardiovascular Disease

We investigate the relationships between treatment modifiers, phenotypic factors and clinical outcomes in congenital heart disease.

  • Various data charts and graphs on a black background, featuring bar charts, line graphs, and numerical data tables displayed in neon colors.

Artificial Intelligence Modeling and Precision Phenotyping

We work on artificial intelligence algorithms for precision phenotyping and clinical trial design, and in the deployment and evaluation of those models in patient care settings.

  • Diagram of a spiral CT scan with cross-sectional images shown on the left. The main figure features a wireframe cone with overlapping red spirals and green lines, illustrating slices of the scan.

Clinical Applications of New Imaging Technology

We study ways that new imaging technology can benefit patients with cardiovascular disease through precise assessment of myocardial function to provide accurate cardiac prognosis.

  • Surgeons performing an operation in an operating room, wearing surgical gowns, masks, and gloves.

    Systems of Cardiovascular Care

We examine the processes involved in cardiovascular care, including provider practices, diagnostic tests and treatment options, all within the context of a healthcare system.

  • Diagram showing EDFF in repaired Tetralogy of Fallot. Left: Heart illustration with annotations on PR, RV volumes, and transannular patch. Right: Graph of RV pressure vs. volume indicating end-systole, end-diastole, and EDPVR.

    Right Heart Function

We explore methods to reveal the changes of right heart remodeling, discover imaging “biomarkers”, and to establish therapeutic targets for improving right heart function.
